Floor Three: The City of Harrison

Story by Neleigh Gehl

What is it like to be a citizen in the city of Harrison at Cornhusker Girls State? Fun, would be one word to describe it! All of the citizens on floor three show a lot of character and are very unique. Meeting new people and making lifelong friends is one of the best parts.  Every time we do an activity, a new part of someone shows. Whenever we have free time you can always find us in the floor lounge talking and laughing.

The mayor of floor three is Marisa Hutchinson, from Valentine. Hutchinson said that she wanted to be the mayor of Harrison because it sounded fun and would be a good way to get to know our floor. She wants to make sure that the nightly town hall meetings run smoothly and that everyone is prepared. Hutchinson said she likes all the different people and learning new things. Hutchinson came to Girls State because she has an interest in government and politics.

The senior counselor for floor three is Carol Nienhueser, from Beaver Crossing. This is Nienhueser’s fourth year of being a counselor for Girls State. Nienhueser wanted to be a counselor for Girls State because her daughter asked if she could help. Nienhueser said that she would give it a try! She loves working with all of the bright girls that are energetic and want to learn!
