The 10 things I've learned at Girls State so far

It’s currently the second day at Girls State and we’ve already learned more than we thought we would . . . some of it that we never thought we would.  Besides all the government, political and leadership facts we’ve obviously gained, there are a number of other beneficial tid-bits of information. Here are ten things we’ve learned so far:

1.       I always thought that I would only worry about the freshman 15 in college, but now my main concern is the Girls State 16.
2.       Although I may gain the 16 pounds, I might just as quickly loose it by walking to sessions.  They mean it when they say to pack comfortable shoes.
3.       I thought my school was small.  Turns out my roommate is one of ten in her class.
4.       When dressing in business attire is your only option, you soon realize that your calves are the best asset
to flaunt.
5.       Just when you think you have a moment to sit down, you thought wrong. You just go, go, go!
6.       I should have packed candy, paper, stickers, etc.
7.       I thought I was the only teenager left with a bedtime…until I met my roommate.
8.       I suddenly feel like I’m back in kindergarten when I’m standing in an alphabetically ordered line.
9.       Disney quotes are the most important and thought of slogans. You know who you are.
10.   I try to play it cool and “in shape” after nine flights of stairs . . . I’m not.
