Wilson!

Story by Aurora Urwiler
Casted away on a deserted island with their only friend, Wilson, the fish swim from door to door every day looking for new people to meet. We may do the same thing that all the other floors do, but we add our own little fun to our town meetings.

When sitting down with Makenna Jensen, governor candidate, she discussed the plan for her gubernatorial campaign. “I am using fun and unique poster ideas based on Disney so people could have something to relate with,” said Jensen.

Jensen said she was hoping for the support of her fellow floor mates during her campaign as she needed “more mouths to help spread the word.”

Jensen said her favorite part of Girls State so far has been the joint sessions with Boys State and watching the speech of Dr. Jo.

Following the interview with Jensen, Wilson citizen Emily Soll sat down to share her thoughts on the floor and the Girls State.

She first shared what she thought made the floor unique. “I find the most unique part of our floor is that we don’t have an animal as our mascot, we have a volleyball for our mascot,” Soll said.

Soll said when she leaves Girls State she will miss, “All of the new friends that I have made and everything that we have learned from this week.”

Soll ended her time by giving pieces of advice for future girls who wish to apply for Girls State. “I would definitely recommend this to other girls,” said Soll. “I would recommend this to other girls because it doesn’t matter if you know everything about government or very little, you will come out learning something.”
