Two sides of the coin: Governor candidates face off

Votes were cast and the names of the 2013 Cornhusker Girls State governor candidates were announced. Lily Lutter of Eisenhower and Annie Polland of Roosevelt were chosen by the Federalist and Nationalist parties to vie for the coveted governor position.

The candidates sat on the stage while citizens stood in line to ask questions. The questions ranged from how the candidates would make Girls State even better to Nebraska specific topics like the Keystone XL Pipeline. Both Lutter and Polland answered all of the questions to the best of their knowledge. The entire debate lasted an hour.

Citizens of Vap and Thomas counties have another opportunity to grill the candidates on Wednesday morning during rapid fire campaigning. During these sessions, the candidates go from floor to floor and answer questions from the citizens of the floor to further the citizen's knowledge of the candidate.
