Court talk: Stephanie Caldwell explains the importance of the law

This morning, Girls State citizens were treated to an introduction to Nebraska courts by Stephanie Caldwell. Caldwell's job is to go through Nebraska’s civil cases as they enter the attorney general’s office. She graduated from Papillion high school in 1997 and attended the University of Nebraska—Lincoln where she majored in political science.

During her presentation, Caldwell thoroughly stressed that as young women there is a need to “put your foot in the door” early in your high school and secondary education career. She explained that being a law student was no easy go; Caldwell said there were many times when she felt downtrodden and unable to proceed in her studies, but she stressed the importance of confidence in one’s ability to pursue their career. Caldwell ended the session with an open floor of questions and answers.

As Girls State citizens, we would like to thank Stephanie for educating the delegates about the Nebraska courts and for taking delegates through the Nebraska Supreme Court later in the week.
