The delegates have arrived, the towns are full and the city positions have been filed for. That's right; the American Legion Auxillary Cornhusker Girls State 2013 has begun.
The delegates started arriving from western Nebraska around 11:15 a.m. today. Because a lot of the girls live in the panhandle area, they are bused into Lincoln to attend. At 2 p.m., all the girls were accounted for and in their towns. That made for very happy staff and counselors.
This week the girls will be busy attending sessions focusing on local, state and federal government, politics and current events. In between those intense learning sessions will be time to bond with the other delegates on their floor.
ALA Cornhusker Girls State is overjoyed to have over 400 girls in attendance. This blog is dedicated to everything Girls State; from party meetings and campaigning to who wore the best outfit during the governor debate.
